A New Chapter

Today is my first day as "A Man of Leisure". In other words, unemployed. For the last three years I have worked at a Sub-Prime Mortgage company in Orange. Up until Friday that is. Anybody who has been following the financial news would not be surprised, but it still caught me off-guard. I knew we were in trouble, but I thought MY job was secure. Then, around 9am Friday morning, they announced that they were shutting down the entire building. Over one hundred people were now, as my ex-co-worker Yolanda would say, Assed-Out.
They gave us all 2 months severance and paid out all of our Vacation. So, I'm good for a little while. Unfortunately, I got comfortable there. I haven't looked at my resume in 3 years. I tried to log onto Monster.com and couldn't remember my password (it probably expired; it's been 3 years).
On top of all this, I had a medical emergency on Saturday. I won't go into details, but it was painful and embarrassing. I thought I was going to need surgery. Problem is, my insurance expired Midnight Friday. Yup, that's right. From the time of the announcement to the time the insurance lapsed was 15 hours. Thanks guy.
Well, thank God, it wasn't anything serious. I felt like crap all day yesterday, but I woke up today feeling human again. So, all that remains now is to find a new job in the next two months.
No problem, right?
